New Glarus
New Glarus is a village in Green County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,111 at the 2000 census. The village is warm, friendly and picturesque and was named after Glarus, Switzerland. The village was settled in 1845 by a group of 150 immigrants from that part of Switzerland. Because of its Swiss heritage, New Glarus attracts many visitors and tourists each year. New Glarus is renowned for its beer brewed by the New Glarus Brewing Company and its wonderful restaurants, including many with Swiss food. A town on the television show Prison Break was named New Glarus although no scenes were actually filmed here.
